Bank Aesthetics Becomes One of the First in UK to be Save Face Accredited

save face accreditationWe are proud to announce we have just become one of the first aesthetic clinics in the UK to be accredited by Save Face, a new independent register set up after recommendations within the Government’s Keogh Report* for an independent, statutory register of cosmetic practitioners, was rejected by the Government.

View our Save Face certificate.

What is the Save Face register?

The Save Face register will ensure that aesthetic practitioners are accredited and regulated through robust auditing and monitoring measures, which will enable clients to make an informed decision when selecting a practitioner to undergo non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

Maria Phillips, Clinical Director and a practitioner at the clinic explains why this accreditation is so important to her and to Save Face Accreditation members of the public.  “As soon as I heard about Save Face I wanted to be accredited. From the minute I opened the doors to my clinic I wanted patient safety and quality of care to be a priority. I am passionate about promoting the fact that the aesthetics industry must be recognised under the medical label and not beauty.

My medical background as a nurse and medical prescriber combined with many years of training and experience in aesthetic treatments can now be officially acknowledged through the Save Face accreditation.  It scares me to think that there are people out there administering aesthetics procedure after just a few days training.

Save Face will put a stop to under qualified and inexperienced practitioners as they have strict guidelines in place, covering both the practitioner and the clinic. I am proud to be one of the first clinics in the UK to be recognised under this scheme and hope that members of the public understand the importance of it when making their choice for treatments.”

Emma Davies, former Chair of the  British Association of Cosmetic Nurses, now Clinical Director of Save Face said: “Whatever the Government achieves from Keogh, we need a register of accredited clinics and practitioners. Without it, the consumer cannot be expected to navigate their way to a safe pair of hands and confidence. “
Every facial aesthetic practitioner accredited by Save Face will have been visited and interviewed by an assessor and their premises will have been inspected. Only those that meet our exacting standards receive the seal of approval and appear one the Save Face Register.

Bank Aesthetics Clinic is one of the first aesthetic clinics to be accredited to the Save Face Register.  Choosing to have a cosmetic procedure is a big possibly life-changing decision and so it is important you choose a reputable one.  Call us today on 01926 859988 to book your FREE no-obligation consultation.

* Background to Keogh Report – Earlier this year, following the PIP implants scare and the need for safe, quality products, procedures and providers, the Government undertook a review of the cosmetic industry in the UK.  The Review was undertaken by Sir Bruce Keogh and a draft Cosmetic Bill, The Keogh Report,  was prepared which was due to go to Parliament for approval in September 2013. This did not happen because of other pressing issues and so regulation could still be two to three years away.

Does Underarm Sweating Interfere With Your Life?

Everybody sweats. It is normal, part of how our bodies regulate temperature. However, people with hyperhidrosis produce Excessive sweatingsweat in amounts far greater than needed to control their body temperature. For some people this may be linked to underlying conditions like diabetes or an overactive thyroid gland.

How many people of affected by this condition?

In the UK around 840,000 people suffer from excessive sweating. It usually starts to affect people in their childhood or adolescence and twenties but it continues to affect people in their middle years. It can make normal everyday activities difficult to carry out and it can be embarrassing both at work and in social situations.

Excessive underarm sweating is caused by over-activity of one type of sweat gland, the eccrine gland and it can be triggered by:

  • Exercise
  • Stress or anxiety
  • Hot or spicy food
  • Heat or cold
  • Alcohol, tea or coffee
  • Or just certain times of the day

Can excessive sweating be treated?

If you think you are suffering from excessive sweating, you can make lifestyle changes that can help such as:

  • Using antiperspirant deodorants (not just deodorants)
  • Trying to stay relaxed
  • Keeping your environment cool
  • Avoiding triggers such as spicy foods or alcohol

If lifestyle changes are not enough then speak to us about BotoxTM – an Effective Treatment

BotoxTM has been known to reduce the effect of hyperhidrosis, for areas including: palms, underarms, face and forehead.

The treatment becomes effective within a few days and is safe and effective.  The cost of the treatment is often much less that what you spend on cleaning clothes, body sprays and soap and the benefits are priceless.

To talk to someone about treating excessive sweating, please contact our Kenilworth clinic.

We are often asked, “What exactly is Botox®?”

Line Smoothing InjectionsBotox® is a drug made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum called botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin is injected to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically remove wrinkles by temporarily paralysing muscles.

Botulinum toxin has proven to be a successful and protein when dosage, and frequency of treatment are taken into account.

“Only the application of an incorrect dose makes a remedy poisonous”, hence it is important to only be treated by a trained medical practitioner.

Botulinum toxin can be injected into people in extremely small concentrations and works by preventing signals from the nerve cells reaching muscles, which leaves the muscles without the ability to contract, therefore paralyzing them.

When injected correctly, Botox® will appear to iron out wrinkles and lines in aging faces. It can be useful for treating a variety of medical and cosmetic conditions including Hyperhidrosis (excessive seating), Frown lines between the eyebrows, Crow’s Feet Lines etc.

How is the procedure performed?

Botuilinum toxin takes up to 72 hours to take effect and make a noticeable difference.

The botulinum toxin is administered by diluting the powder in saline (sodium chloride) and injecting directly into neuromuscular tissue. In very rare circumstances, some individuals may require as many as five days for the full effect to be observed.

Who should not have Botox® ?

Botulinum toxin should not be used in pregnant or lactating women, as well as people who have had a previous allergic reaction to the drug or any of its ingredients.

What are the risks and side effects of Botox® ?

Injections with botulinum toxin are generally well tolerated and side effects are few.

How we perform your Botox® ? injections at our Kenilworth Clinic

We apply a numbing cream to the treatment area one hour prior to your procedure in order for it to work. Many of our patients come into the office and have my nurse apply the cream. You can then sit and read or just relax until your procedure.

The prescribing nurse then removes the cream and cleans your skin with alcohol. We use gel ice packs to cool the skin, providing a little more pain relief and also shrinking the blood vessels to decrease bruising.

The prescribing nurse then administers the Botox®. A series of carefully placed injections add the toxin directly to the muscle.

Following the injection, you should stay still for about ten minutes to allow the liquid to be absorbed by the muscle. Then go home and be tranquil for the next two hours. Botox® will have adhered to the muscle by then and should not spread. After a couple of hours you can apply light makeup and go about your business. But don’t exercise on the day of the injection.

You won’t see immediate results. It takes between two and fourteen days for the Botox® to work.

Once the Botox® takes effect, it lasts two to six months. You should allow the first injection to wear off before having another. That way you will know how long it lasts in you.

If you have further enquiries please contact our Kenilworth clinic, by calling 01926 859988.

Bank Aesthetics are one of Warwickshire’s leading clinics, offering a range of aesthetics treatments for both men and women.

Do you suffer from Acne scars, aged or sun damaged skin or stretch marks?

If you have answered yes, then you might consider Genuine Dermaroller TherapyTM   This treatment involves using a Dermaroller to replace the lost collagen to the affected area which helps your skin renew itself and improve the overall look of your skin.

How does it work?

We undertake a Genuine Dermaroller TherapyTM advanced micro-medical skin-needling which stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely. This creates smoother, brighter, younger-looking skin. It does not use chemicals, fillers, injection, lasers and it doesn’t burn your skin.

The needle breaks the skin and causes micro-trauma and micro-inflammation. Your body responds by sending blood to the area for healing. As your skin repairs itself, new collagen builds up just below the surface.

The gentle technique provided by Micro-needling is far more “skin friendly” and far more effective than many other more invasive and more expensive skin treatments. Micro-channels seal within hours after application: long enough for new collagen-structures to form within the lower layers of the skin and short enough to allow you to quickly to return to your normal day-to-day activities.

Only medical practitioners such as Bank Aesthetics are qualified to administer the depth of treatment that will treat depressed acne scarring, surgical scars, severe pigmentation, stretch marks and cellulite. At Bank Aesthetics our specialist knowledge using this therapy system this will ensure you get the optimum results. To book your FREE consultation call us today on 01926 859988

Your Skin – Do you know your zones?

When yoSkin Mappingu are looking at selecting a cleanser or moisturiser, do you choose the fragrance, packaging, or do you purchase based on recommendation or word of mouth?  Would you be more interested if you could choose the best products for you based on facts about your own skin? This is what we refer to as Skin Mapping.

With our FREE Skin Mapping Consultation we provide you with an insight into your skin, past and present, and we can prescribe a skin home care regime to improve and help maintain a healthy looking skin.

Our Skin Mapping service takes no more than 20 minutes, it’s FREE and it takes away the guess work when selecting products for great results for your skin.

Rather than analysing your skin in general terms, a member of our professional clinical team at Bank Aesthetics divides your facial landscape into fourteen zones. Each zone is then examined inch-by-inch through touch and sight and our findings are noted on your personalised prescription sheet.

Your prescription sheet then serves as a visual guide for you, outlining your conditions such as breakouts, dehydration, and/or hyper-pigmentation. This guide then allows us to take an objective view of the results and make their professional product recommendations for your specific skin type.

If you would like to book in for your FREE Skin Mapping, then please get in touch with Bank Aesthetics today on 01926 859988.

Bank Aesthetics carry out a thorough consultation before performing any medical treatments.

My Aesthetics Journey

Beautifil ClinicThe Beautifil Aesthetics clinic has now been open just over 3 months and I have been reflecting on the journey that has brought us here. After many years of providing Aesthetics treatments for clients from various beauty salons around Coventry and Warwickshire, I decided the time had come to put down some roots. I take my profession very seriously and am as passionate as Antonia is on #safetyinbeauty and the need to separate Aesthetics from the Beauty industry.

After months of searching for the right property (and hours of painting and decorating), I opened my Beautifil Aesthetics Clinic in November 2013. Right from the start I wanted to establish the highest level of quality client care and safety and to create a clinical setting, but without compromising patient comfort and ease. From the feedback we receive, I think this is something our hard work has achieved.
The Beautifil Aesthetics Clinic opened in the Bank Gallery, in the Kenilworth’s Old High Street just before Christmas and I felt honoured when Antonia Maraconda agreed to come along and show her support by attending my VIP launch.

From the day my first client stepped through the door, myself and my practice manager Guiliana have made it our priority to carry out treatments in a clean and safe environment.

As a Registered General Nurse and a Independent Nurse Prescriber in Medicine, I understand the full implications of the treatments I administer. My medical training means I am able to advise my clients on the best treatment to achieve the results they are after.
Many people are nervous when they visit an aesthetics clinic for the first time and that is why we offer everyone a free no-obligation skin consultation. We discuss areas of concern and I can then map out a course of treatment to address and resolve any issues.
We are also fortunate to have access to an expert team of local medical professionals who are on hand to help our clients with surgical cosmetic procedures and dental cosmetics.

I feel very privileged to be doing what I do and feel a real sense of pride when I see my clients with a re-newed feeling of self-confidence.
I also feel very lucky to be the owner of such a beautiful clinic and would like to thank all my family and friends who have supported me through my Aesthetics Journey.

If you would like to talk to us about an aesthetic or cosmetic procedure, please call us 01926 859988.

What is Juvedérm?

Juvéderm is a HA gel lip filler that is injected into the skin to make it appear younger and fresher.

One of the benefits of Juvederm is that its effects are instant and this means that you can start loving your  lips as soon as you leave the Bank Aesthetic clinic in Kenilworth.

How does Juvedérm work?

Using a fine needle and anesthetic Juvéderm is inserted into the lip body, which adds volume and minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
