What is Botox?
Botox is the commercial name for Botulinum Toxin, a drug used to treat certain muscle conditions and reduce the signs of ageing by temporarily relaxing muscles.
What is Botox used for?
Botox is used in medicine to treat certain muscle conditions. Cosmetically it can be used to reduce the appearance of the horizontal lines in the forehead and glabella (the space between your eyebrows) and also crow’s feet around the eyes.
How does Botox work?
By injecting very small doses of Botox into the skin, signals from the nerve cells are prevented from reaching the muscles, effectively making them relax. When injected into certain areas of the face, the muscles relax and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
How long will Botox last?
Exactly how long the effects of Botox lasts will depend on the individual; typically however, a treatment will last around 4 months.
It is important to treat Botox with respect and ensure you are only treated by a medically trained practitioner with the experience and qualification to administer prescribed drugs.
